UA President goes to South Vietnam to meet with educators

FAIRBANKS-- Dr. William R. Wood, president of the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ, flew to South Vietnam Saturday on another educational consulting assignment for the U.S. Agency for International Development.

This is Wood's third trip to South Vietnam in the past year and a half to assist the nation in upgrading its institutions of higher learning.

The educator has undertaken a number of assignments of this nature in the past, the first of which took him to Libya in 1955.  He is a vice president of the International Association of University Presidents which met in Liberia in 1971 to lend assistance to developing nations of mid-Africa.

In South Vietnam, Wood is expected to consult with the minister of education and his staff and educators.

He plans to return to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ on April 28.
