University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ student leaders advocate in Juneau, March 16-17

WHAT: University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ student government leaders will be meeting in Juneau for the 34th annual Legislative Affairs Conference. Over four days, 30 students will be advocating the importance of higher education to elected officials.

The public is also invited to join the student University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Rally for Higher Education on Monday at noon on the steps of the State Capitol Building.

WHO: 30 student government leaders from University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Anchorage, University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Fairbanks, and University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Southeast.

Rally speakers include: former UAS Chancellor John Pugh, Nick Bursell, president of the UAS Juneau campus student government , USÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Senator Audrey Kirby and Kachemak Bay Student Zobeida Rudkin.

WHEN: Legislative Conference: Saturday-Sunday, March 16-17

               University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Rally for Higher Education: 12 p.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, March 18

WHERE: ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ State Capitol, 120 4th Street in Juneau

WHY: Student leaders will advocate to their legislators and share their stories about how the 41 percent cut in state funding will affect their lives and impact their communities.
