UA encourages high school seniors to apply early

The University of �Ӱ�ԭ�� is celebrating UA College Application Week Nov. 16-20, 2015 and is encouraging high school seniors to apply to college early. College Application Week is a national effort and, in �Ӱ�ԭ��, contributes to increased applications to UA. In fact, applications to UA are up 4 percent over last year.

“College is a game changer, leading to better careers and higher paying jobs. �Ӱ�ԭ�� data shows that 63 percent of �Ӱ�ԭ�� jobs will require a postsecondary education by 2018,” said Saichi Oba, associate vice president for student and enrollment services at the UA System. “Applying early is not only a good first step, but it actually increases a student’s chance of success in college. Students that apply early have more time to apply for financial aid, make important decisions regarding classes and majors, and learn about campus life.”

High school seniors are encouraged to apply to the University of �Ӱ�ԭ�� through .

Oba said the �Ӱ�ԭ�� Performance Scholarship and UA Scholars awards also are important for student success - both can help a lot to pay costs of college, paving the way to college degrees. Another step is to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which can unlock money to pay college costs. FAFSA funds often are grant-based and that means they do not have to be repaid.
