University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ FY20 budget, policy for delayed reports of misconduct to be taken
up by Board of Regents at its November meeting
FAIRBANKS -- The University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ’s FY20 operating and capital budgets are set
for approval by the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Board of Regents at its Nov. 8-9 meeting on the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ Fairbanks campus. The proposed operating budget
request includes funding for increasing staff capacity to address campus sexual assault
and enhance the university’s ongoing work toward creating a culture of safety and
respect. The University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ is undergoing its first-ever comprehensive salary
and benefits review to better understand its market competitiveness, and to optimize
internal equity, retention and recruitment. The budget request includes the estimated
funding for addressing the results of the review. Funding is also included for the
university’s strategic initiatives focused on research, workforce/economic development
and increasing enrollment.
UA President Jim Johnsen will discuss the university’s 2040 visioning work, after
which Dennis Jones and Aims C. McGuinness Jr. with the National Center for Higher
Education Management Systems will present information regarding effective board governance.
Other business includes approving a policy for delayed reports of misconduct; Title
IX compliance update and review of Title IX scorecards; and the risk services annual
report. Regents also will be approving resolutions of appreciation for two board members
nearing the conclusion of their terms, Deena Bishop and Jyotsna Heckman.
Regents will hold a public evening gathering from 5:30 –6:30 p.m. at the Elvey Globe Room on the ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æ campus on Thursday, Nov. 8.
Audit, academic and student affairs, and facilities and land management committees
met on November 1 and 2 and action passed out by those committees will be taken up
under the board’s consent agenda.
